Reiki

Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you truly love.”
~Rumi

I became a Reiki master after working with Kris Stevens, here in Grass Valley, and again with Kathleen Prasad, who teaches Animal Reiki around the country and the world. Now I offer classes to teach how to use Reiki with animals.

Reiki cannot harm. Ever.

Reiki is a gentle, noninvasive, holistic energy healing system that yields powerful results for body, mind, and spirit. Reiki is a wonderful healing tool for pain relief following surgery, easing symptoms of chronic conditions, calming an animal’s anxiety and fear, and easing the transition at the end of life. Reiki can be offered in conjunction with rehabilitation or as individual Reiki sessions.

DISTANCE REIKI

You don’t need to be present to receive Reiki energy. Energy is everywhere, and all it needs is intention and the ability to ‘send’ it. The practitioner focus and intention makes it work. Energy, unlike matter, is not subject to the laws of time and space.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR SESSION

I will ask for your name, birthday, where you live and a photo. We’ll either talk on the phone, via Skype, or by email so that I can assess your needs. I’ll send you some forms to complete and then we can schedule your session.

Usually a session lasts 45-60 minutes. I’ll call you to discuss your needs, and then you’ll get comfortable. After the session, you will call me (I don’t want to disturb you, as some people like to bask in the energy glow for a time) and we’ll discuss your session.

You’ll want to schedule a session when you can be relaxed and undisturbed. Lying down is preferable, but you can be sitting in a comfortable chair. Many people like to have incense or essential oils at hand, as well as soft music and crystals. That’s entirely your call. Now close your eyes and open your mind! Form the intention that you will receive the Reiki energies.

HOW YOU MIGHT FEEL DURING AND AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

Reactions vary, but many people remark on how amazingly calm and relaxed they feel. Some even fall asleep. It’s not unusual to feel waves of warmth, or a gentle vibration or tingling.

After your treatment, allow yourself time to come back into full awareness. You might feel lightheaded, so get up slowly. Drink lots of water–Reiki releases toxins from the system and you’ll want to flush them out.

Pain levels often improve, as do anxiety levels. Energy and alertness increase daily for many people.

REIKI FOR ANIMALS

Reiki is ideal for use with animals because it is gentle and noninvasive. It doesn’t cause stress, discomfort, or pain, and yet yields powerful results. Animals respond intuitively to Reiki‘s power to heal emotional, behavioral, and physical illnesses and injuries.

For animals who are healthy, Reiki helps to maintain their health, enhances relaxation and provides an emotional sense of peace and contentment.

For animals who are ill, Reiki is a wonderful healing method as well as a safe complement to Western Medicine, Chinese Medicine, homeopathy, flower essences, and all other forms of healing. For example, Reiki can reduce the side effects of chemotherapy, support an acupuncture or acupressure treatment, and enhance the effects of all modalities.

For animals with behavioral issues especially fear based aggression or anxiety Reiki is a powerful tool to help them relax and stop the cycle of panic or anxiety. For animals in transition, Reiki is a powerful yet gentle way to provide comfort, relief from pain, fear, and anxiety, and to ease the transition.

**By law I must tell you that I am not a licensed healthcare professional and do not claim to diagnose or cure illness with Reiki treatments, nor do I advise replacing medical care from your doctor. Reiki is best used as a compliment to modern Western medical treatments.
